News About Grok

Apparently, Grok, an AI chatbot created by Elon Musk, shares the same objective as the supercomputer from Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy i.e. to understand the universe.

Musk has expressed concerns about AI and plans to offer Grok to premium subscribers on the X platform. Grok has real-time access to content on X and showcases a playful sense of humour. Grok aims to provide answers with wit and a touch of rebellion. Grok is built on Grok-1, which outperforms GPT-3.5 in certain areas but is still not as capable as GPT-4. Early access to the model is available.

Visualising GROK

My input:
'A gigantic 3D "42", in purple and pink in the background, with a huge monster scaly creation featuring a huge head in the middleground, and rows and rows of elfish figures in the foreground sat working at computer screens, style steampunk.

I then told GPT4 "excellent, but can the huge monster come out a bit more".

GPT4 modified my instruction and commented on the output itself, saying, "A revamped steampunk-inspired scene emphasizing a more prominent huge monster with scales in the middleground. The gigantic 3D number "42" remains in the background, now in softer purple and pink hues to not overpower the monster. The monster, with its large, generic head and fantasy-inspired appearance, is the focal point. In the foreground, the rows of elfish figures working at computer screens are more subtly integrated, ensuring the monster's dominance in the scene. The steampunk aesthetic with gears, brass elements, and vintage computers is still prevalent but balanced to highlight the monster."

I thought the result was excellent, though this version of the result was slightly sharper (on the detail on back of the chairs for example) after I put it through Topaz Sharpen AI:

GPT4 on the left, GPT4 + Topaz Sharpen on the right

Well, that looks great to me.

Can't wait to get into Grok, but this is me for now:

Mind you, the tweets are interesting:

So, Hitchhikers Guide to the Universe by Douglas Adams has some key events:

1. Arthur Dent wakes up to learn his house is about to be demolished to make way for a new highway bypass. His friend Ford Prefect turns out to be an alien who whisks Arthur away from Earth moments before the planet is destroyed to make way for an intergalactic highway.

2. Zaphod Beeblebrox, the two-headed, three-armed President of the Galaxy, steals the spaceship Heart of Gold, which is powered by the Infinite Improbability Drive, allowing it to travel through vast interstellar distances via quantum unlikelihood events.

"A two-headed, three-armed humanoid steering a golden spaceship through vast interstellar distances. The humanoid is seated at the helm of the ship, with stars and planets visible outside the windows. The interior of the spaceship is illuminated with soft lights, highlighting the complexity of the control panels and the determination on the faces of the creature's two heads. Each of the three arms is engaged in navigating the ship, showcasing a scene of cosmic adventure."

I had a few goes at getting a 2 headed 3-armed humanoid steering a golden spaceship through vast interstellar distances... but AI is still struggling to count.... I mean 3 heads? 2 arms? Ok, more than 5 fingers, but it still looks humanoidish

3. Arthur and Ford end up on the spaceship Vogon Constructor Fleet, where they are forced to endure painful Vogon poetry. They get ejected into open space but rescued by the Heart of Gold.
I tried ... two humanoids getting ejected into open space, in the distance is a golden spaceship ...

4. The group arrives at Magrathea, the planet factory that originally constructed Earth. They meet Slartibartfast, who gives Arthur a babel fish universal translator to place in his ear and tells him about the quest for the Ultimate Question that goes with the Answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything (which is 42).

5. When facing destruction from automated missile attacks on the planet Krikkit, Arthur escapes by learning how to fly (which turns out to be fairly easy once you throw yourself at the ground and miss). The others escape too.

6.  Eventually, the supercomputer Deep Thought reveals that the Ultimate Question is "What do you get if you multiply six by nine?" indicating there was actually something fundamentally wrong with the universe all along.

FINAL THOUGHT ON GROK
